Woodend Winter Arts Festival: Variations on a theme: works by Brahms, Mozart, Chopin & Scriabin
8 June @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEST

A spectacular program of the finest works for solo piano by Mozart, Chopin, Scriabin, and Brahms.
The moody chromaticism of Mozart’s A-minor Rondo provides a perfect segue into Chopin’s Ballade no. 4, “the most exalted, intense and sublimely powerful of all Chopin’s compositions” (John Ogden).
Scriabin’s post-romantic Sonata no. 4 is followed by the dazzling Variations and Fugue on a theme of Handel by Brahms, based on Handel’s Harpsichord Suite in B-flat major.
