Sydney Theatre Company: Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
13 December @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm AEDT

When Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre presented Edward Albee’s corrosive black comedy in late 2023, with Kat Stewart as Martha and her real-life husband David Whiteley as George, the season sold out before it opened and extended. Hailed as “electrifying”, the production, directed by Sarah Goodes, then had a commercial season at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre last year. Now, it’s arrived in Sydney, where Stewart (Offspring, Underbelly) makes her Sydney Theatre Company debut. Expect to be scorched by the play’s ferocious dissection of a bitter marriage, brilliantly performed here.
Limelight Editor’s Choice
Logie Award-winner Kat Stewart makes her Sydney Theatre Company debut with wit, authenticity, and unbridled fire in this celebrated production of the twentieth century’s most ferocious comedy of manners.
A leading figure in American theatre and winner of three Pulitzer Prizes, Edward Albee’s most famous play is a wild, brainy and explosive evocation of love, marriage and everything in between.
After a university faculty party, Martha and George, lure an unwitting younger couple, Nick and Honey, into their bitter and frustrated relationship. Their marriage has been defined by the accumulation of small disappointments, and tonight they’re all coming out with a vengeance.
