The JazzLab: Zy The Way

21 March @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT

Join us for an extraordinary musical journey as Taipei-based jazz collective Zy The Way embarks on its inaugural Australian tour. Led by Australian-Taiwanese vocalist Caitlin Magee, acclaimed American composer Matt Fullen, and Taiwanese multimedia artist Bruce Tsai, the band seamlessly blends 3000-year-old ancient Chinese poetry, multimedia, and original jazz for a distinctive sonic experience. Zy The Way takes inspiration from the ‘Book of Classics (Shijing 詩經)’, using ancient verses as the basis for their compositions, making them one of the only bands recording primarily in an Ancient language. Their music transcends conventional jazz, navigating through the lens of Classical Chinese philosophy to encapsulate a harmonious approach to life. With their debut EP A Different Destiny earning acclaim, don’t miss this captivating fusion of tradition and contemporary artistry.
