The recipients of the 2025 Tait Memorial Trust Awards have been announced. Over £91,000 (around $186,700 AUD) has been awarded to a range of musicians and dancers from Australia and New Zealand pursuing studies in the UK.

In music:

The £10,000 Tait Mackerras Chair recipient is Nicola Robinson. The Brisbane-born French horn player will perform with Sinfonia Smith Square for its 2025/26 season. The £5,000 Tait Scholar award has been awarded to NSW French horn player Stefan Grant, who is undertaking study at the Royal College of Music.

As reported by Limelight in January, NSW soprano Eden Shifroni was awarded the Melba Opera Trust Alastair Jackson International Opera Award, valued at AUD $180,000, to support her studies at the Royal College of Music in London. She has now also received the Tait Memorial Trust’s Alastair Jackson Award of £5,000, further assisting her move to the UK. Both awards are supported by Dr Alastair Jackson, who also supports the Tait Sutherland Bursaries for emerging Australian artists via the TPAA.
