Tropical Cyclone Alfred, due to strike the Queensland Coast north of Brisbane later today, is already cutting a swathe through the performing arts calendar, with several performances postponed due to the risk of flooding, high winds and transport difficulties caused by the Category 2 storm system.

Among the postponed performances are shows by Toby Wren (5 March) and Camille O’Sullivan (7 March). Both were part of the Ωhm Festival presented at Brisbane Powerhouse. New dates will be advised shortly.

Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, has been rescheduled to play in the Powerhouse Underground on 15 March at 3pm.

La Boite Theatre has also postponed the opening performances of its production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, citing the need to ensure “the safety of their staff, artists, and audiences”.

Opera Queensland has also advised ticket holders that its collaboration with One Equal Music, The Birth of Bel Canto, which was due to play in the City Tabernacle Baptist Church tonight (5 March), has also been postponed.
