Reports of audience members inappropriately touching cast members have marred the Sydney return season of Calamity Jane at the Opera House Studio.

Melbourne performer Kala Gare, who plays Katie Brown in the show, took to social media on Sunday to call out the behaviour, saying that for three consecutive performances, cast members had been touched without consent during the immersive production.

“We’ve had too many times of people coming up and touching people inappropriately,” Gare said (in character) in a video posted to Instagram. “It’s starting to get a little crazy with people feeling a little liberal.”

“Come see the show, have a great time – but don’t touch us,” she added.
