Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2024

Australian Brandenburg Orchestra 2024

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra celebrates key musical infrastructure in its 2024 season, from Notre Dame de Paris, to the Château de Versailles to Handel’s House.

2024 will see the ABO play six live concert series in Sydney’s City Recital Hall and Melbourne Recital Centre – theatrical, insightful and innovative explorations of Baroque music featuring leading international guest artists including French harpsichordist Justin Taylor, Japanese soprano Yukie Sato, and Italian fortepianist Francesco Corti – all of whom will all make their Australian debuts with the ABO in 2024.

The campaign opens in Melbourne in February with Notre-Dame, a theatrical salute to the cathedral’s enduring legacy as an epicentre of musical innovation presented almost five years after the cathedral came close to being destroyed by a fire that brought the world to a standstill.

The concert series will commemorate eight centuries of music performed within the walls of the building – including works by Couperin, Lully and Campra – interspersed with dramatic vignettes by playwright and director Alana Valentine.
