The Australian String Quartet (ASQ) has announced a new partnership with Adelaide University. Over a three-year period, the University will be the exclusive tertiary partner of the ASQ.
Adelaide University has also unveiled a newly refurbished studio space that will be open to the quartet as well as faculty members and students.

Adelaide University is a new institution, comprising both The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. The partnership with ASQ will see the launch of a brand new range of initiatives in “student engagement, creative collaborations, on-campus performances, and research opportunities”.
“We’re excited to kick off a new chapter of innovation and creativity with Adelaide University as our exclusive tertiary partner,” said ASQ CEO Angelina Zucco. “In our 40th anniversary year, this partnership strengthens our purpose – to create chemistry and amplify intimacy through string quartet music that resonates with audiences across Australia and around the world.”
The ASQ has been a Major Partner of the University of Adelaide since 1991, when it began as Quartet-in-Residence. Hosting performances, masterclasses, open rehearsals and coaching for string musicians, each ASQ member holds the position of Visiting Research Fellow.
The ASQ has been celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025. Last week, it was awarded the 2025 Ruby Award for Outstanding Collaboration for the Australian premiere of nyilamum song cycles alongside co-composers Lou Bennett and Paul Stanhope, and recently launched a podcast, Inner Voices with the Australian String Quartet.
