SeasonPreview: Your guide to the arts in 2025

Bach Akademie Australia has announced its 2025 season – and there are a lot of ‘firsts’ in store .

“This year marks eight years since I imagined bringing together Australia’s finest instrumentalists and singers to share with all Australians the profound joy and inspiration found in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach,” says Artistic Director Madeleine Easton.

“We have four programs rich and diverse in repertoire for you, all with Bach’s music at the centre as our inspiration and guide.”

To open its 2025 season in April, Bach Akademie will collaborate with its first international soloist on its first-ever national tour. In The Countertenor – Bach’s Holy Spirit, Grammy-nominated American singer Reginald Mobley will perform a program of Bach cantatas in Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Orange.

The collaboration culminates in a performance launching the Blackheath Chamber Music Festival on 25 April titled In Bach’s Orbit, featuring works by composers who influenced Bach’s musical voice, including Telemann, Vivaldi and Pachelbel.
