Bell Shakespeare has announced its third production for 2018, a national touring production of Julius Caesar by Associate Director James Evans. The play was last put on by the company in 2011, staged by then Co-Artistic Director Peter Evans. Bell Shakespeare’s productions for 2018 also include Antony and Cleopatra, starring Catherine McClements and Johnny Carr, and Molière’s The Misanthrope, with the title role played by Danielle Cormack. For next year’s Julius Caesar, Kenneth Ransom takes on the eponymous ruler in a production that will be seen in 27 venues across Australia.

“In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare explores what happens when fear infects a society and I think everyone can relate to that,” James Evans said. “Audiences will see a lot of themselves and their society reflected in the play. It’s also just a cracking great story, full of action and some of the most incredible language Shakespeare ever wrote. It will be a really exciting night in the theatre”.
