Western Australia’s Black Swan State Theatre Company has announced its 2025 season, a six-production menu of contemporary classics, new work, and an evocative musical performance from Western Australia’s Kimberley region.
Artistic Director Kate Champion likens the season to a gourmet meal: “We aim for a mix of flavours and textures, undeniable substance, diverse nutrition, and a sprinkling of surprising spices.”

August: Osage County
The season begins with an undeniably substantial offering: August: Osage County by Tracy Letts, a blistering portrait of a family in freefall. The 2008 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play delves into the cracks of the American dream, exposing the fractures within one family’s fragile unity.
Directed by Eamon Flack, this co-production with Sydney’s Belvoir brings together a stellar ensemble cast, with seven WA actors joining the Sydney production, which is presented in association with Perth Festival. It plays in the Heath Ledger Theatre from February 27 to March 16.
