After 22 years as Queensland Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster, Warwick Adeney has announced he will farewell the orchestra in 2023 in to pursue teaching and music-making more broadly across the community. Throughout his tenure, Adeney has served under Chief Conductors Michael Christie, Johannes Fritzsch and Alondra de la Parra, and seen the orchestra go through major organisational changes, including the 2001 amalgamation of the Queensland Philharmonic and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.

“So many big concerts with our chief conductors stand out for me, including Bruckner and Brahms with Johannes Fritzsch, and Mahler with Alondra de la Parra especially,” said Adeney, reflecting on his extraordinary 38-year musical career.
Other career highlights include performances of Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, and Handel’s Messiah in 2019 under Stephen Layton, which Adeney looks forward to performing again with the QSO in November.
