Inner West Jazz Fest (IWJF), the two-night extravaganza of jazz and improvised music hosted at the Annandale Creative Arts Centre, is back for its third edition.

Showcasing a cross-section of the adventurous music being made in Sydney and beyond by leading and emerging artists, this year’s festival (29–30 August) has ranges from solo and duo sets to a large-scale, community-focused ‘ceremony’.
This year’s IWJF’s openers are HEAPS GRASS – an experimental, improvising folk trio comprising Ebony Tait, Lachie Mills and Jack Rosenzweig.
Next is Tymbal Echoes, performed by drummer Simon Barker and saxophonist Hinano Fujisaki. Inspired by “mesmeric” listening experiences, Barker’s project combines granular synthesis with live performance.
Drummer-composer (and festival co-curator) Laurence Pike brings some brand new music to the stage with Hallucinations in quartet formation.
