Janice Muller is this year’s female resident director at the innovative and independent Australian company, Malthouse Theatre.
Melbourne’s Malthouse Theatre is renowned for being one of Australia’s foremost independent theatre-makers, and this year they continue to lead the way with the announcement of Janice Muller as their 2016 Female Director in Residence. Now in its sixth year, the annual position offers a paid opportunity for career development so that female theatre-makers can pursue career objectives through day-to-day activities, independent projects and mentorship opportunities.
“We are thrilled to have Janice Muller joining Malthouse Theatre as a resident director in 2016,” said the Theatre’s Artistic Director, Matthew Lutton. “I have no doubt she will be an integral part of the ongoing artistic conversations at the company throughout the year.”
Muller is no stranger to Malthouse, having curated the successful 2013 production White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, and she enters her new role with a list of significant achievements and credits. Most recently she directed the premiere of new Australian work The Tribe in Surry Hills’ backyards for Belvoir/Urban Theatre Projects, and previous credits include The Country
