The Fritzi Trio has taken away the top prize at the 2024 Strike A Chord Grand Final, hosted by Musica Viva Australia at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Saturday.

The string sextet Take Six (QLD) took home second place with the $4,000 Paul Morawetz Prize, and percussion septet JPMS Ensemble Animate (QLD) was awarded the $2,500 third prize.

“The quality of these young artists is truly amazing. Chamber music has always been a great joy of my career and it’s heartwarming and exhilarating to see a new generation discover that joy,” said Artistic Director of Competitions Wilma Smith.

“The future is bright in the hands of these wonderful musicians, and I have no doubt that many of them will grace our professional stages in years to come.”
