The Tait Memorial Trust has announced performer and mentor Alice Batt as the recipient of the 2025 Tait John Frost Musical Theatre Award.
The Victorian performer and coach will travel to London to receive coaching at Associated Studios, one of Britain’s leading musical theatre training institutions.

With a career spanning performance and mentoring, Batt is a soprano, actor and dancer who also works as a vocal and acting coach. Most recently, she toured internationally in the cast of GWB Entertainment’s 40th anniverary production of Cats as Jellylorum/Griddlebone. She has performed in StageArt’s production of Spring Awakening.
A graduate of the Victorian College of Arts, Batt is also the founder and creative director of Performing Arts Company, a youth performing arts platform for which she has directed a variety of productions.
Supported by the Tait Memorial Trust and theatre impresario John Frost, the Musical Theatre Award is granted to outstanding musical theatre artists from Australia or New Zealand under the age of 35. Introduced in 2023, the Award grants a bursary of £5,000 for study at Associated Studios.
Past recipients of the Musical Theatre Award include Rebecca Rolle and Cathlyn Rose-McKellar.
The full list of 2025 Tait Memorial Trust winners were announced in July and included French horn player Nicola Robinson and soprano Eden Shifroni.
Tait Memorial Trust supports artists from Australia and New Zealand in pursuing further study in the UK. It has given more than £1.5 million in support to more than 300 artists across the fields of music, opera, ballet and musical theatre since its establishment in 1992.
