Celebrating achievement in Western Australian professional live performance in 2023, the 2024 Performing Arts WA Awards were presented in Perth’s Heath Ledger Theatre on Monday evening, 12 August.
Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA’s production of Andrew Bovell’s drama Things I Know To Be True was the big winner on the night, collecting awards for Outstanding Direction (for Kate Champion), Best Mainstage Theatre Production and Outstanding Lead Performance for actors Caroline Brazier and Humphrey Bower.

Freeze Frame Opera’s The Little Prince was also a popular production, picking up three awards including Outstanding Musical Direction or Conducting for Katie How.
Broome-based First Nations dance company Marrugeku went home with three wins (including Outstanding New Work: Dance for Burrbgaja Yalirra 2, and Best Production for Jurrungu Ngan-ga [Straight Talk]).
Albany’s Breaksea took home two awards for its production The Magical Weedy Seadragon.
Equations of a Falling Body by Laura Boynes with Performing Lines for Perth Festival and Into the Woods by WA Opera both received the most nominations, featuring in eight categories each.
