In a new venture that extends its footprint far beyond beyond the page, Limelight has announced its first dedicated arts tour, taking readers to Far North Queensland for the 2026 Australian Festival of Chamber Music.
Based in Cairns, this expertly curated travel experience will be combine premium festival access with bespoke cultural and leisure activities, and will be led by tour host Rachel Whealy, whose extensive background in the classical music sector (with The Song Company, Canberra International Music Festival, Music Australia and as Orchestra Manager for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra) will generate invaluable layers of context and nuance to the experience.
Her presence will ensure the trip balances musical depth with the practical ease and camaraderie seasoned arts travellers expect.

The initiative marks a significant expansion for Limelight, which has covered the festival for many years through reviews, features and artist interviews. The tour’s foundations are built on that long-standing relationship.
For Limelight, the launch signals a broader strategy to translate its authority in classical music journalism into live experiences. Having reported on the festival’s evolution, major commissions and visiting international artists over many seasons, the publication now seeks to bring readers inside the event in a more direct way.
Bookings and full itinerary for the inaugural tour are now open, with strong early interest indicating that readers are keen to move from page to performance – and to experience one of Australia’s flagship music events in the company of like-minded travellers.
