A man and woman have been remanded to appear in court for the robberies of two houses in Numurkah and Mooroopna.

Seymour and Shepparton police have arrested two individuals in relation to the alleged thefts of a number of musical instruments. The instruments were stolen from two properties in Numurkah and Mooroopna, 230km and 191km north of Melbourne respectively, on November 2.

A 27-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both of no fixed address, have been remanded to appear in court at a later date. It is believed both have previous arrests for drug related offenses.

A number of instruments stolen from the two addresses remain unaccounted for including a 150-year-old violin with a distinctive “WG” engraving on the scroll, a viola, a mandolin, a banjo and a guitar. Anyone with any information about the location of the alleged stolen items is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

The Victoria police have confirmed that the arrests are not connected to the theft of a number of antique string instruments collectively worth $166,000, which were taken from a car in Melbourne’s inner east in October. The whereabouts of the four violas and a violin from that robbery and the identity of those responsible is still unknown.
