Christmas, Limelight

Christmas is a fertile subject for classical music composers, inspiring works joyful, sombre, celebratory, and reflective. Some are grand, others intimate and small-scale: what unites them is how effectively they speak to the listener and evoke moments of mystery, wonder and repose. With that, Limelight is inviting our readers to vote on their top three pieces of classical music from the list below – what rings in the silly season for you? What moves you at this time of year? What says Noel best? Survey closes December 20 at midnight and results will be released the next day.

Adams: El Niño

Anderson: Sleigh Ride

Bach: The Christmas Oratorio

Berlioz: L’Enfance du Christ
