Festival of Voices: A Choral Tapestry

5 July @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm AEST

The Tasmanian celebration of all things vocal returns with a host of performers from Australia and overseas. Traditional and contemporary works rub shoulders with cabaret and educational workshops, while headline acts include Hobart-based vocal ensemble JESSA performing contemporary classical repertoire at the Port Arthur Asylum, and vocal works setting words by Australian writers performed by AVÉ alongside polyphony by Bach and Victoria. This year’s Classical Choral Workshop concentrates on Handel, culminating in a concert featuring his Dixit Dominus, performed by the 120 singers of the Festival’s Classical Choral Workshop, and Zadok the Priest, performed by the Come Sing Handel Choir.

Limelight Editor’s Choice

Festival of Voices are delighted to welcome Gisborne Singers from Victoria for a wonderful evening of choral music in New Norfolk, alongside local choir, St Matthew’s Singers.

Both choirs are well regarded and much loved in their home communities and will come together to present a thoughtfully curated program created especially for this concert.

This joyful concert celebrates the beauty and diversity of community choral singing, bringing voices together in the welcoming surrounds of St Matthew’s Anglican Church.  Audiences can look forward to a varied and engaging selection of repertoire, showcasing the distinctive sound of each ensemble.
