Australian Musical Theatre Festival: A Day Out At Clarendon Estate

24 May @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm AEST

Boasting more than 40 events over five days, the Australian Musical Theatre Festival returns to Launceston. Carmel Dean’s Well Behaved Women, which shines a light on some of history’s trailblazing women, launches the festival, while the Opening Night Gala features a cast led by Jarrod Draper. The centrepiece is a production of The Frogs by Stephen Sondheim, Burt Shevelove and Nathan Lane. In another highlight, Delia Hannah reflects on her life in Seeing Is Believing, in which she is joined by the festival’s Artistic Director Tyran Parke. Following a sold-out performance last year, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra returns for the concert Broadway Showstoppers with singers Draper, Hannah, Lisa Crosato, Nadine Garner, Rob Mallett and Lorinda May Merrypor.

Limelight Editor’s Choice

A collection of performances at one of Australia’s most imposing and romantic pastoral homesteads.

Set in seven hectares of riverside parklands, the house retains its service wing, walled garden, impressive rural outbuildings, convict quarters  and rare elm avenue. Furnished to the 1838-1850 period, the house also features changing exhibitions of historic fashion from the 1830’s to 1960.

Clarendon survives in its original rural, parklike setting with elm avenue and walled garden (former kitchen garden) and access to the South Esk River.

Come for the day and buy tickets for any or all of the three performances at the estate, including:

Pride & Prejudice – An Adaptation in Words and Music

Made In Tasmania – Rob Mallett – Stories & Songs

Jack ‘n’ Gin

‍And as a bonus … anyone with a ticket to one of the shows can join a discounted tour of the historic house with proceeds going to maintaining the estate.
