Pacific Chamber Players: A Romantic Rendezvous
16 August @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm AEST

Pacific Chamber Players’ first performance for the year is a very special one. They are presenting works by female Romantic composers, in particular Louise Farrenc, Cécile Chaminade, Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel. The music of these composers and pianists added an emotional depth and enchantment to the canon of Romantic music. Farrenc’s Nonet for wind and strings is full of rich textures and intricate scoring. Schumann’s piano trio is lyrical with inventive harmonies and Fanny Mendelssohn’s Nocturne is pure emotion in a pianistic style. Chaminade’s Flute Concertino explores the subtle tonal qualities of the instrument. Be prepared to be transported to another subtle and delicate world.
