Australian National Academy of Music: ANAM Recital – Max Wung
18 August @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm AEST

Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series.
Haydn, Kodály, and an English Sorbet
“I’m so excited to be sharing this brilliant program with you!
I aim to form a fresh take on the elegance of Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D major. “An Idyll” by Sullivan and “Salut d’amour” by Elgar offers a warm contrast of tender lyricism, sincerity and reflection. The program concludes with the monumental “Solo Cello Sonata” by Kodály. As one of the most significant solo cello pieces written, it draws inspiration from Hungarian folk music and pushes the cello to its expressive and technical limits.” — Max Wung
