Festival of Voices: Beatles’ Songs + Stories

12 July @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AEST

The Tasmanian celebration of all things vocal returns with a host of performers from Australia and overseas. Traditional and contemporary works rub shoulders with cabaret and educational workshops, while headline acts include Hobart-based vocal ensemble JESSA performing contemporary classical repertoire at the Port Arthur Asylum, and vocal works setting words by Australian writers performed by AVÉ alongside polyphony by Bach and Victoria. This year’s Classical Choral Workshop concentrates on Handel, culminating in a concert featuring his Dixit Dominus, performed by the 120 singers of the Festival’s Classical Choral Workshop, and Zadok the Priest, performed by the Come Sing Handel Choir.

Limelight Editor’s Choice

Experience the music of The Beatles like never before as Tom Wolfe and Scott Targett present an intimate acoustic tribute to the Fab Four. With rich harmonies, heartfelt storytelling and a deep respect for the songwriting genius of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison, these timeless songs are stripped back to their raw essence.

Tom and Scott share the stories behind the music; the inspirations, the influences and the moments that shaped a generation. Best known as members of The Wolfe Brothers, one of Australia’s most celebrated country acts, the duo’s Beatles Show continues to sell out venues across Tasmania. This special Festival of Voices performance offers a fresh, soulful take on one of the greatest catalogues in popular music.
