Salamanca Arts Centre: Denson-Bywater Quartet
28 February @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm AEDT

Get ready to experience all the drama, light, shade, emotion and pleasure that live music can bring as pianist Louise Denson and multi-wind player Phil Bywater team up to present an exciting evening of original music! Together with Hobart’s premiere rhythm section, Hamish Houston (bs) and Tom Robb (dr), they will interpret repertoire ranging from contemplative and nostalgic to intense and moody, not to mention cheeky and fun!
Louise is well known on the Hobart jazz scene, both leading her own groups and working with local musicians such as saxophonist Spike Mason, vibraphonist Kelly Ottaway and samba drummer Carlos Ferreira. She has completed a number of extended composition projects, the most recent being ‘Love Asunder’ with award-winning vocalist Elly Hoyt. Her compositions have been widely performed and recorded, and she has played in festivals across Canada and Australia, and in the UK.
Phil is re-establishing himself in Hobart after many years on the big island. He is a powerful, expressive player with countless gigs and recordings to his credit, including international tours, and performances at WOMADelaide, QPAC, Sydney Myer Music Bowl and festivals across Australia.
