Handa Opera at Millthorpe: Ferruccio Furlanetto in Concert

2 April @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEDT

This Easter, Lyndon Terracini’s very Aussie take on the Italian summer opera festival returns to Orange’s wine country with an expanded program. Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera is performed in concert and stars Stacey Alleaume, Natalie Aroyan, Diego Torre, Andrew Williams and Elena Gabouri with the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra under Paul Terracini. Legendary bass Ferruccio Furlanetto performs career highlights in an Australian exclusive, violinist Jun Yi Ma returns for the opening gala, and soprano Noëmi Nadelmann sings Weill and Gershwin in Berlin to Broadway with André Desponds on piano.

Limelight Editor’s Choice

Witness one of the world’s greatest bass singers in an intimate career retrospective. In the grand tradition of legendary basses Ezio Pinza and Cesare Siepi, Ferruccio Furlanetto brings his celebrated vocal depth and dramatic power to the Millthorpe Hall stage. This performance is his only appearance in Australia and may be his last, offering a rare opportunity to hear the stories and arias that have defined his international career. Accompanied by Natalia Sidorenko, Furlanetto will sing a repertoire of landmark works in a truly up-close-and-personal musical event.
