Event Series: Fiddler On The Roof

Theatre Royal, Sydney: Fiddler On The Roof

5 August @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST

First seen at London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2024, this Olivier Award-winning production, directed by Jordan Fein, transferred to the Barbican, where it became the venue’s best-selling musical of all time. Set in 1905, Tevye, a milkman in the tiny fictional village of Anatevka, tries to maintain his Jewish traditions. For his five daughters, that means a visit from the matchmaker. But as each daughter challenges his beliefs against the backdrop of a changing world, Tevye must decide whether to hold onto his roots or learn to embrace the unfamiliar. The 1964 musical has a wonderful score including songs such as If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition, Matchmaker and Sunrise, Sunset. Australian and West End performer Troy Sussman plays Tevye, with Alexis Fishman as Golde and Sigrid Thornton as Yente.

Limelight Editor’s Choice

From a powerhouse creative team—directed by Jordan Fein (Into The Woods), choreographed by Julia Cheng (Cabaret), and designed by Tom Scutt (Olivier & Tony Award winner)—this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience this critically acclaimed production direct from the West End.

It’s 1905 in the tiny village of Anatevka. Tevye, a milkman, lives his life by their proud traditions. For his five daughters, this means a visit from the matchmaker. As each daughter challenges his beliefs, against the backdrop of a changing world, can Tevye hold on to his roots, or must he bend to the will of his children and learn to embrace the unfamiliar?

As one of the greatest musicals of all time featuring, ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunset’, this classic musical of joy and community is an exuberant celebration of love and life.
