SIMA: Freedman Jazz ’25

Hear the future of Australian jazz. The Freedman Fellowship presents a concert featuring performances by finalists for this years award, all vying for a career changing opportunity.
This concert will feature performances by four finalists for this years award: Holli Scott (vocalist, WA), Niran Dasika (trumpet, VIC), Sam Gill (sax, NSW) and Wilbur Whitta (piano, NSW).
The Freedman Fellowship is a prestigious opportunity that recognises and supports the next generation of leading jazz musicians. Awarded annually, the fellowship provides $30,000 to support the recipient while they undertake a major creative project.
Previous winners read like a Who’s Who of Australian jazz, including Phil Slater, Andrea Keller, Kristin Berardi, Andrew Robson, Matt Keegan, Julian Wilson, Matt McMahon, Nick Garbett, Aaron Choulai, Emma Stephenson, Helen Svoboda, Philippa Murphy-Haste, and Hilary Geddes.
This performance is presented by the Freedman Foundation and the Sydney Improvised Music Association
