Step into a world of reflection, imagination and vivid orchestral storytelling as Austrian trumpet virtuoso Selina Ott joins the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra.

Awarded the Opus Klassik Prize in 2021 and celebrated as the first woman to win First Prize for trumpet in the seventy-year history of the ARD International Music Competition, Ott brings radiant artistry and expressive depth to Vladimir Peskin’s Concerto No. 1 in C minor, a work whose dark lyricism and restless energy reveal the trumpet as a voice of searching intensity.

The program opens with Chloé Charody’s My Australia, a moving fanfare shaped by ideas of place, belonging and shared identity. From there, Peskin’s concerto turns inward, giving the spotlight to Ott’s remarkable command of colour, line and atmosphere.

The afternoon culminates in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, a luminous orchestral tapestry inspired by One Thousand and One Nights.
