Fremantle Chamber Orchestra: Music and Dance at the Ballroom
15 March @ 3:00 pm - 4:50 pm AWST

Locatelli’s Il Pianto d’Arianna (the weeping of Ariadne) uses the fragment of a lost Monteverdi opera telling of Theseus’s abandonment of Ariadne. A solo violin sobs on Ariadne’s behalf. The final Largo, strewn with silences, eventually twists into the hopeful smile of a major key.
A contemporary of Mozart and Beethoven, Leopold Koželuch’s Symphony in G Minor is one of his most dramatic and mature symphonies.
Then Kashtany Duo Paul Wright (violin) and Myroslav Gutej (accordion) join FCO and the Roztiazhka Ukrainian Cossack Dancers for Hungarian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Jewish, Moldovan and Gypsy dances.
