Opera Bites: Opera Lecture Series – “The Operas of Donizetti”
5 November @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm AEDT

Since 2003, Opera Bites Co-Founder Murray Dahm has delivered accessible, friendly and informative lectures, drawing on its history, culture and music. Enjoy exploring a variety of areas of operatic history from composers and voice types through to genres and quirky bits of opera trivia.
Several operas by Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848) are among the world’s most popular – L’elisir d’amore and Lucia di Lammermoor – are rightfully among many people’s favourites. Others, like Maria Stuarda, Anna Bolena, Lucrezia Borgia, Don Pasquale, La Fille du régiment and Roberto Devereux are also popular. Yet, Donizetti wrote some sixty-six operas (maybe more) and many of these works are filled with music just as beautiful as his better-known works. Come and explore (nearly) all of Donizetti’s operas in this relaxed and informative 10-session course.
Murray’s style is popular with seasoned opera-goers and newcomers alike. Full term enrolments and Casual Drop In available.
