AVID Theatre returns to bakery@1812 with Patrick Marber’s Olivier Award-winning modern classic CLOSER.

This provocative, darkly funny, and fiercely intelligent relationship drama places the audience just metres from four strangers caught in a destructive cycle of attraction, intimacy, jealousy, betrayal, and revenge.

Playing a strictly limited season from 28 October to 7 November 2026 at the intimate bakery@1812 venue in Upper Ferntree Gully, this stripped-back production focuses entirely on the intense psychological battle between four people desperate for connection. When lives collide, attraction quickly becomes possession, and the desire to know the absolute truth becomes more dangerous than the lies themselves. How close can you get before you destroy each other?
