For more than two thousand years, the pipa has carried stories of home. Now pipa virtuoso Jinqi Guo takes it somewhere new.

Trained at the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in China and locally at the Sydney Conservatorium, Jinqi presents an evening of world premieres, fresh arrangements and improvisations, joined by music director and guest pianist Ray Lin, and Billy Han on dizi.

Each piece is a musical postcard from composers across eras and countries, writing of the places they call home. Together they ask what home sounds like in Australia today.

Up close in an intimate studio, every note in the room.
