HORIZON ORCHESTRAL STUDIO: Rapture & Ruin
24 July @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

Rapture & Ruin continues the inaugural 2026 Horizon Classical Series, presented by Horizon Orchestral Studio, an emerging artistic development platform dedicated to forming emerging conductors, soloists, musicians and audiences through deeply human orchestral experiences rooted in mentorship, artistic excellence and cultural leadership.
The concert features pianist Calvin Abdiel, Third Prize and Australian Prize winner at the 2021 Sydney International Piano Competition, in a Sydney homecoming performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Joining him is conductor Hans Sangtoki, founder of Horizon Orchestral Studio and inaugural Honours candidate in Conducting at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying with Professor Benjamin Northey.
Together with an orchestra of outstanding emerging and early-career musicians, they present Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18.
