Melbourne Recital Centre: Siobhan Stagg + Quatuor Agate + Jonathan Ware

6 October @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT

Through Eve’s eyes.

Australia’s luminous soprano Siobhan Stagg returns home with an exploration that reframes creation through feminine eyes. In this Melbourne exclusive, Stagg joins pianist Jonathan Ware and Quatuor Agate to trace feminine creation from medieval mysticism to contemporary awakening.

At the evening’s heart lies Gabriel Fauré’s ambitious Chanson d’Ève, a song cycle that tells Genesis through Eve’s wonder-filled perspective. Surrounding this centrepiece, Hildegard von Bingen’s ancient visions dialogue with urgent new voices: Anna Korsun’s Last Flight, Anne Cawrse’s pointed Advice to a Girl, plus works by David Hirschfelder and Andrew Ford that pulse with contemporary relevance.

As Stagg’s voice weaves through string textures and piano’s intimate companion, the power of musical storytelling emerges. With ancient wisdom meeting modern questioning, experience the artistic communion between audience and performer.
