Port Fairy Spring Music Festival: The edge of forever
10 October @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm AEDT

Visions of eternity
The acclaimed Darlington Quartet join forces with Festival Co-Director Stefan Cassomenos in a quest to the borderless reaches of time and space.
The journey begins with Beethoven’s world-changing Sonata in C-sharp minor, subtitled “Quasi una fantasia” — almost a fantasy — now universally revered as his Moonlight Sonata, adored for its rich melody and compelling harmony. Continuing in the same vein, Melbourne composer Sam Williams’ impassioned and vastly imagined single-movement Sonata — the wednesday on the edge of forever — receives its world premiere performance, before we conclude with Elgar’s majestically evocative Piano Quintet, a grand vision of otherworldly inspiration.
