Australian National Academy of Music: The Great Schubert Nine with Giordano Bellincampi
13 November @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT

In this concert Giordano Bellincampi and the ANAM Orchestra trace Vienna’s musical DNA across a century of change. Webern’s Passacaglia was written as a student homage to Brahms — his most Romantic and symphonic work before modernism took hold.
The Strauss family pieces bring the heartbeat of Vienna’s golden age of dance — Joseph’s celestial Sphärenklänge and Johann’s effervescent waltzes and overtures that once filled the city’s ballrooms. Together they set the scene for Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, The Great, whose expansive melodies inspired later generations from Bruckner to Mahler.
