Soprano Kate Macfarlane and Ensemble 642 (Hannah Lane – baroque harp, Nicholas Pollock – lutes) return to Adelaide to explore the highly expressive mad songs of seventeenth century England.
The program draws on the poetry, music and drama of this intriguing genre, interspersing contemporary readings and folk song to evoke the tumult of the human mind, and the dramatic intensity brought on by madness, longing and love.
