A deep dive into Beethoven and his influence on what has since been written for cello and piano (2027 marks the bicentenary of the composer’s death).

As colleagues and artistic equals, Emil and Tipi (Timo-Veikko Valve) have performed together extensively over the years. They share a curiosity for all music and a strong vision for bringing it to life. There is considerable distance between the places they both call home, Finland and Australia, so reconnecting on stage somewhere in the world is a relatively rare treat for both, amid their otherwise busy personal schedules. This concert is part of a larger tour of Australia and Hong Kong.

This concert pairs with Beethoven’s Influence Vol. 2 (Saturday, 17 April), focusing on the piano. In both programs, Emil and Tipi wanted to cast a special spotlight on the Finnish composer, Ilari Kaila.
