Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat: Wurtoo: The Wombat Who Fell in Love with the Sky
10 July @ 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm AEST

The Wombat Who Fell in Love with the Sky brings together classical music and storytelling, through a uniquely Australian lens. A quintet of MCO string players will present a musical retelling of Tylissa Elisara’s charming story of Wurrtoo the wombat on his daring quest to marry the sky.
The performance will include an abridged narration of Elisara’s novel, which takes inspiration from classic children’s books such as Winnie the Pooh and Blinky Bill, as well as stories from the author’s own Narungga, Kaurna and Adnyamathanha heritage.
This performance will feature music composed by esteemed Noongar, Yamatji and Wongi composer Aaron Wyatt. It will open with an introduction to the string instruments and a range of demonstrations and activities designed to guide listening and optimise engagement and participation.
