The Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers’ House Trust has announced that composers Olivia Davies and Jae Laffer are the recipients of the 2023 Prelude residencies, which are given annually to composers and offer a year-long stay at a heritage-listed home, along with a stipend to cover costs and travel.

Davies, who is based in Western Australia, will spend 12 months in the Peggy Glanville-Hicks House in Paddington, Sydney, while Laffer, who is also originally from Western Australia, will live in the Gallop House in Dalkeith, Perth.

“I’m so grateful to have received this residency. I’m really looking forward to being in the house and having the time to focus on creating new music as well as to reconnect with peers and make new connections. For me it’s an incredible opportunity for growth,” said Davies.
