The finalists for the 2024 Australian Women in Music Awards have been announced.

This year marks the fifth year of the awards, celebrating the excellence of artists, creatives, industry leaders and behind-the scenes roles in the music industry in the promotion of a diverse and vibrant music scene.

Across 19 categories, 57 finalists have been selected from a pool of over 400 nominated artists. The winners will be announced on 2 October at a ceremony and concert at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall.

The Awards have also announced a new partnership with Opera Australia and a new resultant category – the Opera Australia Impact Award. Its inaugural nominees are composer and artistic director of Green Room Music Andrée Greenwell, The Song Company’s co-Artistic Director and soprano Jessica O’Donoghue and musician, producer and director Linda Thompson.

Soprano Miriam Gordon-Stewart, pianist Sonya Lifschitz and guitarist Karin Schaupp are this year’s nominees for the Excellence in Classical Music Award, awarded to a mid-to-late career artist.
