Soprano Eden Shifroni, 24, has won the 2024 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition (ASC). After yesterday’s finals (19 September) at The Concourse, Chatswood, Shifroni takes home the $30,000 Marianne Mathy Scholarship for her performance of Verdi’s Sul fil d’un soffio etesio (Falstaff) and Donizetti’s O luce di quest’anima (Linda di Chamounix).

For her first place win,  Shifroni also receives an opportunity to audition for Lyric Opera of Chicago’s professional artist-development program, a painted portrait of herself, a limited-edition Drago Marin Cherina sculpture and photographic prints from her Finals performance.

Shifroni also won additional prizes at the finals; the 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Promotion Prize, giving her $1,000 in promotional credit at the station; and the $500 MOST Audience Choice Prize.
