The 42nd Green Room Award winners were announced at a ceremony last night (Monday 5 May) at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre.

Victorian Opera swept the Opera awards, taking home an award in every single category. Its production of Candide earned the awards for Production, Musical Achievement (Orchestra Victoria & Benjamin Northey), Direction (Dean Bryant), Design (Dann Barber and Matt Scott) and Performance in a Lead Role (Katherine Allen).
Michael Petrucelli also took home another Lead Role award for Eucalyptus, and Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role was shared by Juel Riggal for Lyric Opera of Melbourne’s The Children’s Bach and Doug Kelly for VO’s La Rondine.

Belvoir St Theatre and Kurinji’s production of Counting And Cracking for RISING took home a whopping seven awards in the Theatre category.
