The Hallé has been named the winner of the 2025 Limelight Recording of the Year for Kahchun Wong’s vibrant account of Britten’s The Prince of the Pagodas. The release marks the Singapore-born conductor’s first recording with the Manchester orchestra and also takes out the Orchestral Recording of the Year.

This year’s shortlist spanned 50 standout albums reviewed in the past 12 months. The Chamber award went to Takács Quartet and Marc-André Hamelin for their pairing of Dvořák and Florence Price, and the Instrumental prize recognised Benjamin Grosvenor for his return to Chopin. La Chapelle Harmonique topped the opera field Opera with Rameau’s Platée, with Malcolm Martineau and guests receiving the Vocal award for their survey of Ravel’s complete songs.
