APRA AMCOS and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) have announced the nominees for the 2026 Screen Music Awards. The winners will be revealed at a ceremony at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on 28 October.

Composers Antony Partos, Josh Hogan and Ned Beckley lead the charge with four nominations each.

Feature Film Score of the Year nominees are Piers Burbrook de Vere and Rose Mackenzie-Peterson for Addition, Kenneth Lampl for Monument, Dmitri Golovko for War Machine and Antony Partos for boxer biopic Christy.

Partos’s Christy score has also earned a nomination in Best Soundtrack Album alongside Amanda Brown for Deadloch‘s second season, Cornel Wilczek and Alex Olijnyk for Together, and Ned Beckley and Josh Hogan for Tales from Outer Suburbia, an animation based on Sean Tan’s book.

Beckley and Hogan’s Tales is also nominated in Best Original Song, Best Opening Title Television Theme and Best Music for Children’s Programming; for the latter, alongside Ack Kinmonth (The Pout-Pout Fish), David Skinner (Kiki Can Fly) and Steve Toulmin (Caper Crew), while Partos has another nomination for Edge of Life in Best Music for a Documentary. Also in the category are Haydn Walker for Whistle, Helena Czajka for Sentient and Adrian Leung for Reported Missing.

Best Original Song sees noms for Beckly and Hogan, Caitlin Yeo, William Barton and Steve Toulmin.

Best Music for A Television Comedy recognises Dog Park‘s Bryony Marks, He Had It Coming’s Caitlin Yeo, Sunny Nights’ Matteo Zingales and The Witchy Girls composers: Peter Corrigan, Georgina Darvidis, Matthew Sheers.

Partos (The Artful Dodger) and Marks (The Family Next Door) are also up for Best Music for a Television Drama alongside Cassie To and Emma Greenhill for Reckless and Jan Skubiszewski for Playing Gracie Darling.

Up for Emerging Screen Composer of the Year, recognising new compositional talent, are Andreas Dominguez, Emma Greenhill, Finn Clarke and Genevieve Patrick.n

The recently-introduced Best Music for a Video Game or Other Interactive Media category sees recognition for composer Christopher Larkin for 2025’s hotly-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong, with Cedar Jones (Bluey’s Quest for the Gold Pen), Belinda Coomes (Malys) and Josh Abrahams and Jonathan Tron (Mixtape) also nominated.

This year’s nominees for Most Performed Screen Composer – Australia are duo Adam Gock & Dinesh Wicks and Mitch Stewart (MasterChef, My Kitchen Rules, Travel Guides), Damian De Boos-Smith and Jay Stewart (Better Homes & Gardens, The Block).

Gock, Wicks and Mitch Stewart are also up for Most Performed Screen Composer – Overseas alongside Bluey‘s Joff Bush and Love on the Spectrum‘s Anthony Ammar.

Best Music for a Short Film nominees are Chiara Costanza (Filthy), Freya (Spiders on my Lashline), Nicholas Gardiner  (Trading Cards) and Callum O’Reilly (The Worm).

Best Music for an Advertisement nominees are Benjamin Lam, Mara Schwerdfeger, Scott Langly and the team behind Voice of Resistance: Fred Leone, Maria Alone, Dion Brownfield,  Caleb Tasker, Sky Thomas, Corey Webster and Dallas Woods.

The recipient of the Distinguished Services to the Australian Screen Award will be announced on 13 October, prior to the ceremony.
