The South Australian venue reveals a sophisticated program as the world’s best flock to Adelaide.

South Australia’s premiere performing arts venue, the Adelaide Festival Centre, has lined up a vibrant program of international artists, impressive national tours and festivals for 2014, it’s 40th birthday year.

Legendary performers abound as the front-runners of the guitar world flock to Adelaide as part of the four day Adelaide International Guitar Festival. Slava Grigoryan looks to have curated an outstanding program this time around headed by Pepe Romero and Yamandu Costa who will appear together in an electrifying double bill and an Australian premiere with the Adelaide Art Orchestra. Expect virtuosic, lightning fast technique from a musical legend and a young genius.

Other highlights of the year to come include the International Piano Series 2014, a mini-festival featuring a trio of concerts from some of the world’s finest pianists. Ukrainian-Australian Alexander Gavrylyuk will play Mozart’s Sonata in C, Schumann’s Kinderszenen and Prokoviev’s Sonata No 6 along with Lizst’s arrangement of Mozart’s Lacrimosa. German Bernd Glemser will focus on Chopin’s folk-inspired works with Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words and Rachmaninov’s Corelli Variations thrown in for good measure.
