Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2024

The Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) has announced its 2024 program, the third under the artistic direction of British-German violinist Jack Liebeck.

Opening on 21 July (until 4 August) in Townsville, QLD, the 10-day AFCM welcomes back highlights from its 2023 festival and will bid farewell to the resident Goldner String Quartet, which announced at last year’s festival that its 2024 season would be the last.

“Our 2023 Festival was a joy to see unfold before my eyes, and the joy in our audiences’ faces will live with me in perpetuity,” said Liebeck. “Although no two Festivals can be the same, I hope that the 2024 Festival will build on this further!”

The festival includes 36 events – concerts, talks, masterclasses – and 43 artists.
