The Adelaide Festival Centre is set to reopen its doors later this month after the $55 million renovation of its seating, staging and foyers.
Following through on its promise to relaunch in early 2026, the Centre’s foyer will reopen on 23 February. The Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre and Festival Theatre will host performances for Adelaide Festival from 27 February.

Under the redevelopment, all three theatres have been fitted with new seating and lighting rigs in the theatres and foyers. The Dunstan Playhouse and Space Theatre have new stage flooring and carpeting. The Festival Theatre’s dressing rooms have been upgraded and the Banquet Room has a new ceiling and fresh paint.
The Adelaide Festival Centre has also been given a new lift and staircase in an effort to improve pedestrian access and flow.
Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre remained open throughout the renovation process. It closed in 2018 for a $66 million refit, re-opening in 2020 with an expanded theatre, backstage and front-of-house area.
“I am delighted to welcome back our audiences to experience the beloved Adelaide Festival Centre as we re-open with greater accessibility and comfort for both our patrons and our artists,” said CEO Kate Gould.
